Youth Progress is seeking a collaborative and trauma-informed Life Skills Coach to join our team. This person is responsible for  providing sight and sound supervision to one identified client at Youth Progress Association (YPA) on a daily basis. Life Skills Coaches maintain the philosophy of Youth Progress Association by providing proactive and supportive environment for the daily work, education, and treatment of the youth in program and in the YP Learning Center.

 

Provide individual guidance for clients in the milieu, in conjunction with the Learning Center staff throughout their day. The Life Skills Coach will create and maintain a culture of community and belonging with all youth at Youth Progress, as well as those within the homeroom.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client Support - Provide individual guidance for clients in the milieu, in conjunction with the homeroom Case Manager throughout their day. The Life Skills Coach will create and maintain a culture of community and belonging with all youth at Youth Progress, as well as those within the homeroom.
  • Communication - Consistent communication with homeroom staff, Youth Advocate Supervisor, Principal and therapists to help client work through challenging behaviors and develop positive and successful coping skills.
  • Teamwork - Support team by providing backup and spending time with youth and allowing staff to take breaks.
  • Consistency - Keep clients safe and help them progress toward their treatment goals. Provide consistently positive interactions with client, Learning Center staff and other youth.
  • Documentation and Tracking - Complete daily logs for your client in their homeroom. Submit Behavioral Rehabilitation Service reports, a minimum of 2 hours daily.
  • Leadership - Be a cultural leader by maintaining a calm, positive, and professional presence. Role-model problem-solving and conflict resolution throughout your work.
  • Growth and Development- Work closely with Youth Advocate Supervisor to develop goals and vocational growth to help you grow in your position and beyond.

Position & Environment Details:

  •     Full Time: Yes
  •     On-call: No
  •     Hours: 8.5 hours between 7:30-5
  •     Co-workers: Coach will work closely with Learning Center staff and our team of proctor parents.  As an agency, we are creative, dedicated, and driven. We're often busy, but never too busy to help brainstorm a complicated problem or share a word of support.
  •     Day to day: For our this position, no two days are exactly alike. However, on any given day, you will spend lots of time with youth and staff, and will be given the agency to bring your passions into your work.  If you are someone who enjoys lively days, is deeply committed to advancing equity, has a strong passion for working with marginalized youth and faces each new challenge with poise, this position could be a great fit.

 

Applicant Qualifications:

Required:

A Bachelor's Degree in a Social Service area or commensurate experience working with youth.
